The Preparation
Consistency is Cumbersome
October 13-19
Monday
Last Tuesday I was pulled over on my motorcycle. I had recently bought it and had not transferred it into my name. I received a citation for driving unregistered and for driving without the motorcycle license (although, I did pass the skills and written tests). My pre-trial date is the 14th.
I had worked up the gull to tell my boss that I would not be taking over the shop like he had hoped. I felt relieved, however, I also felt that I would be that last sputter of light for the shop. The last of pop wood in a dwindling fire.
Today I have told John the length of my stay at the company, gotten one step closer to getting the bike registered, scheduled my court pre-trial, and gone to jiu-jitsu.
Wednesday I am trying out piano lessons. I need to come up with a few songs I would like to learn if the question arises. I would like to visit with my dad sometime this week and talk with friends. I am going to see if Ruth wants to hang out and cut my hair. Friday maybe. It is late now. I am going to bed.
Tuesday
Court was scheduled for 10 o clock this morning. I did some small things around the shop, then took off to my docket. I ended up talking to the prosecutor almost an hour after 10. As long as I present the registration and my license to the court by November 20th, my cases will be dismissed. Getting the title in my name has been frustratingly cumbersome. First, I had to make a short 2 3/4 hour commute to the seller’s place to sign some papers. Then, after being rejected from the tax office, had go home to surrender the plate and provide some evidence for the lien. After, triumphantly returning with all the documents, ready for my title, I was swiftly defeated by a suffix discrepancy between the documents. My mission now is to get this affidavit signed and returned before October 21.
My plan for tomorrow after work is to mail the paper to senor seller, get some sliver, cash my checks, then go to a piano trial lesson. I lament to miss wrestling practice but I scheduled the class before I knew there was practice that day. I plan to try the lessons for a couple weeks and see what spawns out of it
Wednesday
I am reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. The meaning of the title eludes me. The fiction jumps between several characters, however, the text is centered around Taggart Transcontinental Company. The company, along with the general state of business all over, has decayed. Practically all the rails are plagued with delays to the point of impeding failure. These problems stem from the apathy, bitterness and indifference that pervades the society. People avoid action so they cant be blamed. Nothing gets done unless someone far away is responsible for it. Those who have are resented, and those who have not feel entitled to their wealth in the name of “fairness.”
As I write this, I have read 40 or so out of the approximately 900 pages but it has kept me captive for the 30 minutes I usually read during work breaks.
I bought a considerable amount silver. Over just the past month sliver has gained 10$, or rather, the dollar has diluted as such. I remember first being told of an economic “reset” a year or two ago and thinking that it either wouldn’t happen, or wouldn’t be as tremendous as speculated. But the sharp rise of gold and silver seem to prove me wrong.
I sent the affidavit over to get signed. I have a childish hope that it gets back to me soon after I get my motorcycle license, but if worse comes to pass, I will drive another six hours for success.
The piano trial less was pleasant. My instructor is a little younger than me but has been playing for 9 years. I see a fruitful learning ahead.
I have completed everything on my to do list not having to do with the motorcycle for this week. I am so eager to have it legal and running well.
Thursday
Just work… a plain white bread type of day.
Friday
There has been an old dodge pickup truck in the driveway, decaying exactly where it had died last summer. I, with impetus from mom and my dearest associate, had put it up for sale on Facebook Marketplace a while ago. Someone finally picked up that piece trash today. There are two more cars lingering around the house, but my brother has plans for them. I plan to be the impetus to get the out this time.
Saturday
I commuted a brisk 1 hour and 30 minutes to Houston for a referee clinic. Dan Lang, the rules interpreter for UIL wrestling, was the main speaker. His confidence bolstered by his knowledge inspired me. I learned a lot. I just hope what I learned doesn’t become unadhered from my memory before the next tournament.
Then I bled the breaks of my dearest associates old truck, then we made lasagna. The best lasagna. The bestest associate.
I plan to go jetskiing with my friend tomorrow, hopefully he follows through.
Sunday Synopsis
Unfortunately, my friend did not follow through on jetsking, but that leaves me time to get some little things done. Outside of some shorts and sweats, my entire wardrobe consists clothes that I work in. They all have put on a tint of oil and most have at least some oil stains on them, so I am going to buy some strictly dress clothes to keep nice.
I bought some interior door panels some time ago to replace those in my car and today I cut out the speaker hole. All I need to do now is upholster them.
Ruth did not end up cutting my hair, so I am just going to do it myself.
My motorcycle is still waiting patiently to be taken to the streets.
I have finished the main body of the chain tensioners for work. Now I have to drill and tap the shafts, cut two slots in them, then clean everything up and paint. It feels rewarding putting so much time into those things and finally glimpsing at the final product.
‘Twas a long week.
